Methodology

What is methodology?

"Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study. It comprises the theoretical analysis of the body of methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge."

"A system of methods used in a particular area of study or activity."

Whilst your design practice outlines the procedure that you adhere to when doing a a design project, methodology (critical/reflective) aims to interrogate these procedures in terms of their effectiveness and suitability.

Why is methodology important in developing effective graphic design process?

My methodology

Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of methods applied to a field of study. The methodology does not provide solutions therefore it is different than a method, however it underpins an understanding for which method/set of methods or the best practices which can be applied to the subject matter or case. From my previous responsive submission feedback, it is apparent that I need to focus more on the methodology which will allow me to choose the best possible method/solution to apply to my practice. I need to have the ability to use a more consistent range of methods which means I need to carry out more research before I put my knowledge towards my practice when using these. The methodology is important as this will inform the specific areas of research I will need to compile in order to identify the methods that will be used. I need to focus more on a specific area of graphic design within my practice so that it can help my design decsisions more consistently and effectively.
Based on the responsive feedback, I now know that I need to improve on time management throughout a module, and towards the end of the module I need to plan ahead slightly so that I do not end up rushing the submission.

Fragrance testing

Irritation tests
In order to determine if a particlar perfume could irritate the skin, scientists perform the "Draize/Eye/Skin" test. This is done by dropping or smearing some of the product onto the skin of rabbits. Potential harm to human eyes is detected by dripping some of the chemical into the rabbits eyes.

Poison tests
Rodents are the animal of choice for toxicity tests. These tests are performed either by inhalation or by force feeding large doses of the ingredient to the mice.

Consequences
According to FASEB (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology) most animals are euthanized after testing by methods considered humane from the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dogs:
Dogs are a favored species in toxicology studies. In these studies, large doses of a test substance (a pharmaceutical, industrial chemical, pesticide, or household product) are force-fed to animals or injected into their bodies, slowly poisoning them.
