Workshop 1:

Considerations for preparing digital work for commercial print.

Commercial print?
Offset lithography 
Digital print
Screen print

Digital colour modes:
CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) subtractive colour, ink on paper.
Used to define colour as it is, when created during the printing process
Sometimes referred to as process colour. 

RGB (red, green and blue) additive colour, light via monitor, projector etc.



Process colours
printed using a combination of the four process inks: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. By default, illustrator creates new swatches as process colours.

Global swatches
Global colour is automatically updated throughout your artwork.

Spot colours 
In offset printing, a spot color is any color generated by an ink (pure or mixed) that is printed using a single run.
